Three weeks, fixed fee. Scorecard, risk register, spend analysis and a 12-month roadmap, delivered into a workspace you keep whether or not you continue. A portion of the fee is credited against your first quarter if you go on to a Growth or Executive retainer.
Three levels of engagement, separated by cadence and by how much of the technology agenda we own. Each is a fixed monthly fee, quoted after the intro call and held for the term. Month to month after an initial 90 days, and you can move between levels as your needs change. For context: a full-time CIO runs $250,000+ fully loaded.
For companies that need an experienced hand on the big decisions and, just as importantly, a standing record of what was decided, who owns it, and when it is due back.
For companies with active initiatives, such as a migration, an implementation or a security program, that need someone driving vendors and projects to outcomes and checking the exposures nobody else is checking.
For companies that need a named technology executive at the table, running the agenda, developing the team, and answering to the board with numbers that hold up.
For work that has a start and a finish rather than a cadence: an M&A diligence sprint, a vendor selection, an incident, a second opinion on a decision already on the table. Scoped and quoted up front so you approve a number, not a meter. Available whether or not you ever take a retainer.
The assessment is the same three weeks of work for everybody, so a published figure is an answer rather than a guess. Publishing it is the point, because you should be able to decide whether it is worth it without sitting through a sales process.
A retainer is not the same work for everybody. What it is worth depends on the size of the estate, the state it is in, and how much of the agenda we are being asked to own. A number on this page would only invite you to pick a level before either of us knows which one you need. So we agree the scope on the intro call, quote a fixed monthly fee, and hold it for the term.
What will never happen is an hourly meter on a retainer. A meter rewards slow work, punishes quick answers, and teaches you not to call, which is fatal in a relationship whose whole value is that you call early. If a question takes five minutes, it takes five minutes, and there is no increment to record.
